We cut curls differently to what you may have be used to. Leeanne uses new certified curly methods to cut curls which is entirely different to a “dry curly cut” or traditional wet curly cut.

We cut the curls dry – first. Because the curls are cut curl by curl with each curl “family”, we need to see the natural curl pattern. This is especially important because curly hair is not uniform, most people have multiple curl patterns and even textures on their head.

What Is a Dry Curl-by-Curl Cut?

A dry curl-by-curl cut is ideal for those who embrace their natural curls, providing a tailored approach to enhance the unique shape and texture of each curl.

Curly Cuts is dedicated solely to curl-by-curl cutting. Our specialised method suits the majority of curl patterns, especially tight textures. However, it isn’t suitable for very short styles or hair that is straight or almost straight. Fades and barbering services are not part of our services.

Traditional Cutting Requests Cannot Be Accepted

We only offer our specialised curl-by-curl cutting service, which is not suitable for very short hair. This method is also not suitable for almost straight hair, as they require traditional dry cutting techniques. Bookings requesting traditional hairdressing cutting methods cannot be accommodated. Traditional hairdressing services are not included in our service offerings at Curly Cuts. We intentail focus our limited cutting availability solely on our specialised curl-by-curl cutting, which requires a different approach, time structure, and expertise.

Booking An Appoinment

Curly cutting and our shop opening hours us is just one part of what we do at Curly Cuts. With so many aspects to the business outside of these hours including our online curly shop Natural Eclipse — we’re often pulled in many directions. That means we prefer online or email bookings.

Please help us and try booking online first before emailing us at [email protected] to book and appointment. The online booking system shows the same availability we see — we can only book you via email if the appointment is also visible online.

If you can’t see your preferred service or time available online, it usually means we’re fully booked for the service you’re trying to select, or you’re trying to book outside the times we’ve allocated for curly cutting.

You’re welcome to try selecting an alternative service, such as an Express Curly Cut, if available — please note this is a different service with different inclusions, and you’ll receive the service you book.

At Curly Cuts, we run our bookings approximately on a 8 week rolling schedule to help create a fair and equal system for everyone in our curly community.

Our bookings open progressively, 8 weeks in advance from the current date — not all. Please also re check online for up to date cancelations.

Please note that during peak times and following holiday closures, bookings may be released earlier than our usual six-week timeframe to help manage demand.

If you can’t find a suitable appointment, we recommend checking back regularly , as more appointments open up weekly or for any cancellations online.

You can also cancel and rebook your appointment online at any time (unless you are cancelling outside our cancellation policy). Simply cancel your existing booking, then go ahead and rebook a new appointment.

Curly Cutting Hours — Here’s When We Snip

Curly cutting is just one component of our business and is not offered every day. Our time is also dedicated to many other services, including our online curly shop Natural Eclipse, our in-store retail and refill bar, writing curly blogs, curly education classes, website work, general shop keeping duties and our nation wide online postal refill service.

We do not offer colouring or other salon services, as our time is reserved for what’s needed most — our specialised curl-by-curl cutting. Just as you would seek out a curly cutting specialist, we recommend visiting a colour specialist for colour services, then coming to us for your specialised cutting.

Cutting appointments are available on Tuesdays until 3 pm, Wednesdays until 6 pm, Thursdays until 3 pm, and Fridays until 1 pm.

We do not offer cuts on Saturdays, or after 1 pm on Fridays, as these times are peak times with retail and refill services.

Cuts are available between 11.30 am and 3pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays 9.15 am until 6pm , Thursdays 9.15 am until 3pm and Fridays 9.15 am until 1pm.

Non Talking Appointments

At Curly Cuts, we understand that some clients prefer a quiet, relaxing experience. If you’d like a non-talking appointment, simply let us know by emailing us at [email protected] before your visit, and we’ll be happy to accommodate.

First-Time Customers Prepayment Required UpFront

Currently we are accepting new customers. For all first-time customers, payment is required upfront at the time of booking in accordance with our terms and conditions you agree to when you book in.

You will be contacted immediately after booking and issued a secure invoice. Unanswered texts or emails within 24 hours of sending will result in us not accepting your booking.

This process is necessary. Unfortunately, like many specialised businesses, we do receive non-genuine first time bookings, and this policy helps ensure our schedule remains functional and fair for genuine clients who are seeking dedicated curly services.

Payment is immediately upon receipt of your invoice which we will email to you within 1 to 2 days after you book online.

Invoices are issued by a secure payment gateway from PayPal and can be paid securely using PayPal or a credit/debit card.

If you prefer not to pay via invoice , please let us know so we can make alternative payment arrangements. If you prefer not to pay via invoice, please let us know so we can arrange an alternative payment option, including bank transfer or paying in store via EFTPOS or Afterpay. If paying in store, arrangements can be made.

If payment is not received by the invoice due date, or if we do not receive the information requested when we text with in 24 hours then your booking will be automatically cancelled.

Returning clients are not required to pre-pay this is just for new clients on their first booking.

The Curly Cuts System

All Curly Cuts Classes are built on The Curly Cuts System — our structured, new approach to curl education, designed to help you understand curly hair properly and achieve consistent results. These sessions are designed for personal customer education only and are not intended for hairdressers or professional training.

These are look and learn curly hair education classes for customers, designed to help you understand, manage, and care for your curls using the latest curly techniques and tips. This offering is a natural extension of what Curly Cuts Canberra is known for — curl-by-curl cutting, curl health, education, and personalised care.

Classes will run in small groups capped at just 5 people per session, ensuring individual attention in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.

Planned class topics include:

Curly hair product techniques
Detangling classes
Bounce Brush education
Senior curl care classes
Children’s curly hair classes
Plus more to be announced

There will be something for everyone, whether you’re new to curly hair or looking to refine your routine.

Private group sessions (minimum 5 people) will also be available — ideal for:

Corporate wellness days
Girls’ or guys’ days out
Friends wanting to learn together

1. Express Dry Curl Cut Only– No Wash, No Refresh $115

This service includes a dry curl cut only . Includes a dry curly cut only – no basin work , no refresh, or styling is included in this service. You’ll leave as is after the cut. Hair must be clean, fully dry, detangled, and worn in your natural curls for us to perform your cut. Duration: Up to 1 hour approximately . Suitable for return clients or anyone not wanting a wash or refresh.

2. Dry Curl Cut + Refresh ( no dry ) $155

This appointment includes a dry curly cut and wet refresh with water spray bottle or dry refresh No basin work is included with this service. This service is perfect for anyone wanting the newest curly tips on refreshing and guidance. If a wet refresh is performed, the hair will be micro-plopped. Please note: you will leave with wet hair. If you choose a dry refresh, we’ll use our dry refresh techniques only, with no or minimal water. Please allow up to approximately 1.5 hours for this appointment. Please allow up to 1.5 hours for this appointment. Hair must be clean, fully dry, detangled, and worn in your natural curls for us to perform your cut. If your cut takes longer due to extra thick hair, or late arrival, the service will be reduced to a Dry Refresh.

3. Dry Curly Cut + Co-Wash + Dry $250

This appointment includes a dry curly cut, a co-wash using a co-wash conditioner at the basin, and drying
During your visit, we’ll also educate you on the co-washing method — when to use it, and how to do it correctly at home.

A personalised styling demonstration is included, teaching new hydration techniques that incorporate water for hydration. Hair is then gently dried with a radiant heat lamp and/or Dyson diffuser.

Please note: because hair must be clean for dry curly cutting, traditional washing is not necessary. Instead, we use a co-wash at the basin as part of this service. This service is perfect for anyone wanting the newest curly tips or a basin wash, with hydration taught using updated curly methods

Please allow up to 2 and 1/4 hours for this appointment. Hair must be clean, fully dry, detangled, and worn in your natural curl pattern for us to perform your cut, as the hair is cut dry first.

5. Curly Cut + Basin Co-Wash (No Dry) $200

This appointment includes a dry curly cut, a co-wash using a co-wash conditioner at the basin, and air dry. During your visit, we’ll also educate you on the co-washing method — when to use it, and how to do it correctly at home.

This service is perfect for anyone wanting the newest curly tips or a basin wash, with hydration taught using updated curly methods

Please allow up to approximately up to 1 hour 45 minutes
for this appointment. Hair must be clean, fully dry, detangled, and worn in your natural curls for us to perform your cut.

When Can I Pop In to Refill & Buy Products?

You’re welcome to pop into Curly Cuts Canberra any day of the week during shop opening hours ( check google maps) for refills and to purchase products. We love seeing our customers during the week!

If you need lots of help, we recommend visiting on Saturdays or on Fridays after 2:30 pm, as we are not cutting at these times and have more availability to offer in-depth advice and product recommendations.

Please note, in-depth education and curl training for new customers or those wanting to update to new methods are available through appointments or our online programs, as it’s not possible to cover full techniques during a brief visit.
