Curly Training Session

Jacinta leads our innovative curly training sessions, a concept that originated at our sister shop, Natural Eclipse. Over the years, we have refined and perfected these sessions to offer the most effective learning experience for managing curly hair in Canberra. Our training sessions have become a signature specialty at Curly Cuts.

During the session, we will delve into essential topics including:

  • The fundamentals of the Curly Girl Method.
  • Understanding the differences between no-poo, low-poo, and co-washing.
  • Explore new techniques for applying various styling products using wet brushes and water for hydration and slip.
  • Learn drying techniques such as plopping, micro plopping, and using a Dyson dryer to diffuse dry curly hair.
  • Tips for protecting your hair overnight with sleep bonnets.

These sessions are designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills to manage and style your curly hair with confidence and flair.

Detangle and dry sessions

At Curly Cuts, we know not all curls are the same, and some curly hair knots easily, especially with kids. Or those with morecoily hair types can be prone to matting.

We can teach you how to detangle gently before the knots become dreadlocks that need to be cut out. Dry brushing, combing, or finger detangling are ineffective for many curly’s and can even worsen the problem.

As curly’s ourselves, we at Curly Cuts understand that detangling can be frustrating and challenging. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. That’s what we’re here for! If you need help with knots, whether in your hair or your children’s, we’ll look after you in our friendly, non-judgemental environment.

Once matting or dreadlocking occurs, it becomes even harder to deal with. Rather than struggling alone, come in and get help from us. Prevention is best, so we will teach you detangling techniques to incorporate into your routine and prevent the problem from happening again.

Curly’s need to learn to detangle gently. We don’t want to be ripping the hair and damaging it. We believe in treating curly hair like silk, which should be detangled gently and carefully to avoid pain and damage.

This is especially important for curly kids to learn so they don’t associate caring for their hair with pain! Teaching them to detangle their hair themselves also helps them feel in control of the process, which is an essential feeling for kids.
