My lifetime in the hair industry, combined with modern curly certifications and ongoing education, brings a high level of curly expertise and experience to Canberra.

We offer Certified Clever Curl curl-by-curl cutting—a highly specialised cutting technique available on selected days and times only.

As Curly Cuts evolved, we made the deliberate decision to specialise exclusively in advanced curl-by-curl cutting.

Since 2025, Curly Cuts has focused solely on this specialised service, delivered personally by owner Leeanne. Rather than offering a full range of salon services, I’ve chosen to dedicate my time and expertise to specialised curly cutting for suitable curl types.

My approach is supported by multiple advanced curly cutting certifications and ongoing professional education, ensuring I continue to stay up to date with modern curly cutting techniques.

If you’ve visited Curly Cuts prior to 2025, please note that the services, techniques and business model have changed significantly. Today’s Curly Cuts reflects my current specialised approach, training and standards. As with many specialist industries, curly cutting techniques continue to evolve. My commitment is to ongoing education, continually refining my skills, and providing clients with the most up-to-date specialised curly cutting methods available.

As a sole operator with limited appointment availability, I’ve chosen to dedicate my time to the specialised curly cutting techniques I’m most passionate about and believe are greatly needed within today’s hair industry. Many clients enjoy the best of both worlds by visiting us for their specialised curly haircut and a separate colour specialist for their colour (and our salon smells much nicer too!). Because this cutting method is highly specialised, it isn’t suitable for every hair type or curl pattern. If you’re unsure whether it’s right for your curls, please ask before booking. I’d much rather assess your hair first and provide honest advice about whether this method is suitable for you.

Bookings requesting other hairdressing cutting methods including fades cannot be accommodated. Due to high demand and limited availability, our bookings are dedicated solely to the newer curl-by-curl cutting approach, which requires techniques not yet taught in traditional hairdressing schools (although change is coming — and we’re excited to see the industry evolving). These newer cutting techniques require extended and different appointment structures.

If you’re a first time client new to curly girl methods or wanting updated advice

While you’ll pick up some helpful demo tips during your haircut (if you book a refresh or co-wash), my time during your appointment is focused on your curly cut and giving you the best possible result. It is not possible for me to perform a curly cut and teach you at the same time. I need to focus on the cut and there is not enough time. 

Our price list and time is structured to suit everyone, so you can book these education sessions separately.

Booking An Appoinment

Curly cutting and our shop opening hours us is just one part of what we do at Curly Cuts. With so many aspects to the business outside of these hours including our online curly shop Natural Eclipse — we’re often pulled in many directions. That means we prefer online or email bookings.

Please help us and try booking online first before emailing us at [email protected] to book and appointment. The online booking system shows the same availability we see — we can only book you via email if the appointment is also visible online.

If you can’t see your preferred service or time available online, it usually means we’re fully booked for the service you’re trying to select, or you’re trying to book outside the times we’ve allocated for curly cutting.

You’re welcome to try selecting an alternative service, such as an Express Curly Cut, if available — please note this is a different service with different inclusions, and you’ll receive the service you book.

At Curly Cuts, we run our bookings approximately on a 8 week rolling schedule to help create a fair and equal system for everyone in our curly community.

Our bookings open progressively, 8 to 10 weeks in advance from the current date — not all. Please also re check online for up to date cancelations.

Please note that during peak times and following holiday closures, bookings may be released earlier than our usual six-week timeframe to help manage demand.

If you can’t find a suitable appointment, we recommend checking back regularly , as more appointments open up weekly or for any cancellations online. 

You can also cancel and rebook your appointment online at any time (unless you are cancelling outside our cancellation policy). Simply cancel your existing booking, then go ahead and rebook a new appointment.

Curly Cutting Hours — Here’s When We Snip

Curly cutting and shop opening hours are just one aspect of the business.  Our time outside of shop opening hours this is also dedicated to many other services, including our online curly shop Natural Eclipse, our in-store retail and refill bar, writing curly blogs, curly education classes, website work, general shop keeping duties and our nation wide online postal refill service.

Cutting appointments are available on Tuesdays until 3 pm, Wednesdays until 6 pm, Thursdays until 3 pm, and Fridays until 1 pm.

We do not cut on Saturdays, or after 1 pm on Fridays, as these times are peak times with retail, our online business and refill services. 

Non Talking Appointments

At Curly Cuts, we understand that some clients prefer a quiet, relaxing experience. If you’d like a non-talking appointment, simply let us know by emailing us at [email protected] before your visit, and we’ll be happy to accommodate. 

First-Time Customers Prepayment Required UpFront

Currently we are accepting new customers. For all first-time customers, payment is required upfront at the time of booking in accordance with our terms and conditions you agree to when you book in.

 Returning clients are not required to pre-pay this is just for new clients on their first booking.

Children Attending Curly Cuts Classes Policy 

Due to limited space in our specialised curly class environment, if a parent or guardian is to remain in the salon with you child during a class, an additional seat must also be booked and paid for the parent.

This helps us manage seating, comfort, and the overall experience for all guests attending. Thank you for understanding and supporting our small specialised space at Curly Cuts Canberra.

The Curly Cuts System

All Curly Cuts Classes are built on The Curly Cuts System — our structured, new approach to curl education, designed to help you understand curly hair properly and achieve consistent results. These sessions are designed for personal customer education only and are not intended for hairdressers or professional training.

These are look and learn curly hair education classes for customers, designed to help you understand, manage, and care for your curls using the latest curly techniques and tips. This offering is a natural extension of what Curly Cuts Canberra is known for — curl-by-curl cutting, curl health, education, and personalised care.

Classes run in small groups capped at just 5 people per session, ensuring individual attention  in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.
